Several students have told us that their right to vote was challenged by the union when they went to the polls. These students were listed as eligible voters and should be allowed to vote. Why is a union that does not want to leave any graduate students behind challenging their right to vote? Oddly enough the union did not challenge colleagues of these students who have similar TA-ships and were pro-union. Even if you believe that they did not attempt to gerrymander the eligible voters during the NLRB hearings, challenging these graduate student voters is a blatant attempt to try and gerrymander the election in their favor. In addition, we have also been informed that some graduate student voters think that they don't need to vote because the votes will be impounded anyway. This is flat out not true. They are correct that the votes will be impounded, but everyone should still vote. Each and every vote cast will be counted, assuming that the union's ridiculous challenges are not upheld. Exercise your rights. Vote NO and put an end to this union issue. |
